Hello, I would be happy to assist you.
It is very common to miss a period due to stress. You can do 2 things to ensure you are not pregnant.
am at all ears doctor Hearne
1. Insert to fingers into your vagina and feel for thin strings. If they are there, chances are you are not pregnant. The only problem with this is that some people don't reach high enough and panic when they do not feel their strings. If you can reach all the way until you feel your cervix and feel around until you feel the strings, you can be sure you reached the top.
I am mostly worried what are the risks if i was to be pregant ?
The cervix is firm so it will be soft until you reach the cervix and the strings should be in the middle.
what is another opition for me to know if am pregant or not
2. You can take a pregnancy test. If pregnancy is the reason for your missed period, then the hormones should be high enough to trigger a positive test. It is best to use your first urine of the day after not drinking or urinating overnight. If it is negative, then most likely you are not pregnant.
well i am supose to recieve my period today should I wait till tomorrow or go ahead and take the test tomorrow morning
As you suggested, stress can certainly cause missed periods. The stress leads to irregular hormone fluctuations that cause the missed period. Typically, your period will return by the next time it is due. (Sorry for the delay...my 5 year old is distracting me).
If you do not start your period by tomorrow morning, you can take the test. Purchase the test tonight though so that you can use your first urine of the day for better accuracy.
There is a 3rd option, but that requires a doctor's visit. You can schedule an appointment with your doctor to confirm your strings are where they should be and your pregnancy test is negative.
Can I address any additional questions/concerns for you?
ok if I was to be pregant how dangerous can it be since I do have the IUD in and I have to take Keppra XR and have esipelsy ? and it perfectly ok I have a nephew I understand
Oh...as far as the Keppra. We always recommend you continue your seizure medications because typically seizure disorder is far more dangerous to the pregnancy. There are risks of spinal defects, but this is not common in women who didn't find out they were pregnant until later.
When was the last time you had a seizure?
And you've been on Keppra the entire time?
yes now for almost 9 yrs
Since your seizures are well controlled, we truly do not like to begin changing your medications. Although we would prefer your pregnancy be planned and that your neurologist has you on the lowest, safest dose and you take prenatal vitamins and folic acid daily 1-3 months prior to conceiving, most of the time women on these medications become pregnant unintentionally and their babies are usually just fine.
ok as far as me maybe being pregant while having the IUD in what could happen?
So, even if for some reason your IUD was ineffective and you are pregnant, you should still continue your Keppra. However, IUD failures are rare...less than 1% so you should be fine.
